WELL, THEY ALL TEACH MAN TO DO GOOD, AND THAT’S MOST IMPORTANT ISN’T IT?
Except Christianity, all other religions teach Man to do good to attain salvation. In other words, the more good you do, the higher your chances of a better after-life. But...
- No one can do good perfectly no matter how much or how hard we try
- Sooner or later, all the religious leaders and their ardent followers will, like Paul, discover to their utter confusion and disillusion that their sincere attempts to be perfectly good are futile. (Rom 7:15-24) Our fleshly desires mean we will definitely sin.
- Imagine it’s going to be your big day. You go shopping for the perfect white wedding dress. However small a stain is on the white dress, will you accept it? In the same way that the dress must be perfect, God’s perfect standard of holiness cannot allow even a small speck of sin.
But we can take heart that as opposed to “doing”, Jesus Christ has it “done”. We no longer have to work for our salvation, because Jesus’ sacrificial death has GIVEN us salvation.
- Just as not every kind of medicine can heal a particular life-threatening disease, so, not every religion can save a soul from hell.
- If we know the importance of treating life-threatening disease, how much more precautions must we take with regard to issues pertaining to our eternal estate
